Walter J. Smiechewicz

Senior Vice President, Chief Audit Executive

Walter Smiechewicz, Senior Vice President and Chief Audit Executive, has more than 30 years of experience in internal audit, risk, governance, and compliance. Prior to joining Citizens Business Bank in May 2024, Walter held a senior level role at PwC for 11 years. As a Chief Risk Officer and Chief Audit Executive, he has successfully created, rebuilt, and led risk, governance, compliance, and internal audit divisions for regional and national banks. Throughout his career, Walter has been invited to speak at professional conferences across the globe and has been published in professional journals on the topics of internal audit, enterprise risk, fraud, and governance.

Walter is a graduate of Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. He received an Executive Diploma in Global Business from the University of Oxford. Walter also received a Master of Divinity in Theological and Ministerial Studies from Columbia International University. Walter is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant.
